The thousand-mile journey begins with a single step and Comida Mexicana is the first step of our #FEastCoastRoad journey.

No particular reason why we chose it for our inaugural, we just happened to walk past it after visiting the excellent Al Forno two units away some time back. The original plan was to visit it the previous weekend but we left it late and it was full for that evening.
No such problem this time round since we reserved our table with Chope before hand. We arrived shortly before our reservation time of 1pm and the friendly Comida Mexicana staff showed us to the table after taking our temperature.
The interior has plenty of Mexican elements in bright colours and did remind us of our visit to Mexico.

Food at Comida Mexicana
We got a pitcher of house lime margarita as well as tortilla chips with chili con queso to start.

The staff filled up three glasses and offered to put the margarita back to the freezer until the second friend arrived.

Can’t stop munching on the tortilla chips and love the spicy cheesy dip.
After all four of us were in, we sat down and ordered the mains. The first to arrive was carnitas (Mexican pulled pork).

Came with corn tortillas and the trio of dips (green salsa, red salsa and guacamole).

The portion was pretty generous and there was quite a bit of leftover pork after we finished the tortillas.
Next up was the fish tacos; absolutely love the bright colours.

The flavours were on point too although all of us commented that we hardly tasted the fish.
We had baked crab enchilada as our final main dish. Although it didn’t look much, we weren’t surprised that this dish was a top favourite in Comida Mexicana after tasting it.

The roll was filled with a good portion of delicious crab meat and the crunchy almond flakes added to the texture.

It also came with rice served with black beans. We love the rice which was cooked with butter and cilantro and was especially flavourful.
The staff informed us about the last order and we decided to have a tiramisu.

Sweet end to the meal
Service at Comida Mexicana
I was pretty impressed with the Comida Mexicana staff who were friendly throughout. When we requested for the air-condition fan speed to be adjusted, they gladly did so without fuss. We also accidentally knocked over a glass of water and one of them quickly came over to help us without any prompting. She pro-actively replaced the glass of water as well.
Final words
We really enjoyed our meal at Comida Mexicana and it is definitely one of the better Mexican restaurants that we had in Singapore. I will recommend that you go in groups of at least 3 to 5 (until Phase 2 dining restrictions are lifted) as the portions are fairly generous and you all can get to try more of the dishes.
